Synopsis and details
Triumph in the Skies is about the daily lives of the staff, working under Solar Airways (a fictional airline based on Hong Kong's Cathay Pacific). It has been compared to the now-cancelled NBC series LAX. It sparked an interest in aviation when first aired amongst Hong Kong viewers, as well as an interest in a small doll named "Triangel" featured early on in the series.

Triumph in the Skies is about the daily lives of the staff of the fictional airline Solar Airways. It revolves around the friendship of Samuel Tong and Vincent Ling, childhood friends who became pilots for Solar Airways, balancing their friendship, professional life, and their goals to become Hong Kong's first ethnic Chinese captain. Samuel and Vincent are then thrust into a love triangle relationship with Belle, an air stewardess with Solar. After many misunderstandings and lost opportunities, the love triangle came to an end. Vincent and Belle became married, while Samuel became acquainted with Zoe, a sick passenger who came to idolize him. All the while, Solar begins cadet recruitment. Samuel Tong's long lost younger brother Issac enters it to prove to Samuel, that he can make it as a cadet. There he meets Chris, Donald, Roy, and Zita and they subsequently became close friends. Like his brother, Issac is also thrust into a love triangle with Zita and Donald.

Triumph in the Skies II takes place a few years after airline pilot captain Sam (Francis Ng) marries Zoe (Myolie Wu), a passenger service agent who was born with a severe heart condition. When Zoe dies, the introverted and mournful Sam resigns his position as pilot captain and spends a long vacation in England. There, he meets the heartbroken student pilot Holly (Fala Chen), who convinces him to return to Hong Kong to join Skylette Airlines.
